November 24, 2004New Plans for Downtown ChattanoogaIt looks like Downtown Chattanooga will be changing it's skyline forever!! We are building a 100 foot tall 16 acre landfill at the former Wheland Foundry. It will be the tallest thing between downtown Chattanooga and Lookout Mountain. "I've heard it will be so tall that you will be able to see it from Lookout and Signal Mountain."There goes our tourism. With so much development and construction taking place in Chattanooga, a landfill close by will save the city and contractors money, Mr. Stephens said.Yeah, great idea dipstick. Why don't we just pile it all up in Coolidge Park? That is even closer. Read the full story on MSNBC People in this city are so backwards. They freak out over building a hotel beside Coolidge Park, but a 16 acre landfill downtown is 'A' okay. November 17, 2004Mozilla Released Prematurely??
I recently found out that Mozilla prematurely released Firefox 1.0 with a known bug. I was frustrated because the web poll I wrote for myOSP wasn’t rendering correctly. If a table width is set to 55% (choose any number under 100) it would often expand to 100% anyway. The fix was to hold Ctrl and press + (plus) which will increase the font size, then hold Ctrl and press – (minus) to lower the font size back. This will force the page to render again and fix the layout. Apparently this was a known bug and Mozilla has a fix for it, but it was just left out of the 1.0 release. Thanks to Ben for the fix above. Of course being such a huge fan of Firefox I am very disappointed in Mozilla. November 14, 2004Chattanooga IMaxI am trying to make plans to go to Atlanta or Nashville to see the Polar Express in 3D because the IMax in Chattanooga can not show full length movies. Why even build an IMax if you do not have the money to build it correctly? It makes me angry is because they need to support full length feature films in 3D like this to encourage the industry to make more. Chattanooga has let its people down once more and forcing them to other cities besides Chattanooga. If you are from Chattanooga, please help me find a way to contact them, as they do not have a e-mail on their website for feedback, suggestions, or formal complaints. I think we really need to show them that the community is not happy. UPDATE Dec 04, 2005 November 13, 2004Breaking the HabitIn my last post I talked about my webpage that I have been working on for the past few days. Unfortunately I get addicted to web design pretty easily, so it has pretty much been controlling my time lately with school coming in at a distant second. The lack of interest in my site is putting things back into perspective. I believe I will take another long break from it. Maybe when school is out and all I have is a full time job left I will have time to play around on a site that only I see anyway. November 06, 2004Things I use to have time forToday I finally got a change to work on one of my websites myOSP today after months and months of inactivity. I didn’t add any functionality, although I did write a short little upload scrip I plan to implement soon, but I did make a new style. I called it clouds for a lack of a better idea. This website is just a place I started for me to have fun and throw around some PHP code. This did come at a price (oppertunity cost). I was suppose to be working on a paper for school that was due today. Oh well... I never have me time anymore. What can I say, I miss PHP. It really is a fun langauge. November 02, 2004Chattanooga AerialI haven't had much time to post because of school. I found this aerial shot of all the development being done in Downtown Chattanooga on the 21st Century Riverfront Project website, so I thought I would post it. If you are not familiar with Chattanooga it is a small town in South TN. All the brown dirt you see are all the parts under construction. Click to enlarge. |
