October 31, 2005No sequel for Serenity?I can't believe Serenity tanked so bad at the box office. The fairly low budge $39 million dollar movie only made a total gross of just over $30 million worldwide. I came upon this quote here (http://www.newu.uci.edu/article.php?id=4118). With the actors already under contract for two sequels, look for "Serenity" to become part of a trilogy should the movie do well in the box office and DVD sales. We already know it didn’t do well at the box office, so all the Firefly fans need to buy the DVD!!! I have to admit I am one of the guilty ones- I was hoping to watch all 13 episodes of Firefly from season one before I saw the movie. Unfortunately the movie was not in theaters very long and I was one week short of getting to see it in the theaters. I only hope this was the case for everyone instead of the interest just not being there. If you have not seen Firefly yet I suggest you rent it from Netflix or Blockbuster online. It's a crying shame because I really liked what they were trying to do. I don't / didn't see how they could seriouly consider a sequel with an ending like that though? Posted by: Axel at April 3, 2006 05:07 AMSerenity was a great movie. It is unfortunate that the movie came after the series because to fully understand the characters and the subtle inuendos one must see firefly first.I do hope to see the series comeback in full force. Posted by: william at July 6, 2006 06:45 AMIT STANDS ALONE, IT IS BIGGER THEN MONEY, AND HAS A FAN BASE THAT SIGNAL CANT BE STOP= SERENITY WILL FLY AGAIN . D/M Posted by: dade m at September 13, 2006 04:29 AMI JUST this month found out about both Serenity and about Firefly. I caught Serenity on HBO one night and LOVED IT even though I caught it in the middle. I immediately had to search the web about Nathan Fillion and found the fan base and the Firefly series. I now own the series having just purchased it and am telling ALL my friends about this gem. I am so sad I missed it all when originally aired (but I'm a mom of a youngun and didn't get out much when it first came out). Posted by: Laura at October 9, 2006 11:23 PMThe first I knew about Serenity was about a year ago when I found it going for next to nothing in my local supermarket. One of the best buys I ever made. Now, all my friends have it too, and the series. If only it had been advertised..... Posted by: mike at September 5, 2007 03:47 PMPost a comment
