June 28, 2005MIT Brainwashing Bloggers? If you have read any blogs in the past few days you have seen the image below (hot linked from Gid) I have seen this all over people’s blogs. I even started taking it myself, but it seemed pretty long. I will have to finish up a later. They give you this image to advertise for them for free: What I don't understand is how the people from MIT have brainwashed everyone into being so bent on other people taking their survey. As far as I know there are no referring credits, and the person taking it does not benefit at all. Come on, at least Nelson TV ratings sends you a few bucks in the mail. I don't mind that everyone wants everyone else to take it, I just wonder how the good folks at MIT have accomplished this. I remember when I was doing my big research paper for school our teacher said it was a good idea to give an incentive to people who take our survey. You should at least be entered to win a candy bar.... or something. Posted by GraphicMD at June 28, 2005 09:16 AM | TrackBackComments
what's something a blog creator wants? more exposure? perhaps the incentive is that the bloggers believe the survey will increase their blog's rank/visits? maybe we're just programmed monkeys who fill out forms online like it was some form of digital crack. j/k ;) when a store asks for my phone number, i give them 867-5309. ;) weblogs are a neat internet craze. ah, the BBS, usenet groups, instant mesengers, webcams, forums, and now blogs. :) pretty wild. i don't think i could do a blog. funny, this world wide web is.
