November 24, 2004New Plans for Downtown ChattanoogaIt looks like Downtown Chattanooga will be changing it's skyline forever!! We are building a 100 foot tall 16 acre landfill at the former Wheland Foundry. It will be the tallest thing between downtown Chattanooga and Lookout Mountain. "I've heard it will be so tall that you will be able to see it from Lookout and Signal Mountain."There goes our tourism. With so much development and construction taking place in Chattanooga, a landfill close by will save the city and contractors money, Mr. Stephens said.Yeah, great idea dipstick. Why don't we just pile it all up in Coolidge Park? That is even closer. Read the full story on MSNBC People in this city are so backwards. They freak out over building a hotel beside Coolidge Park, but a 16 acre landfill downtown is 'A' okay. Posted by GraphicMD at November 24, 2004 12:06 PM | TrackBackComments
yeah I agree seems like bad idea, havn't these people played Sim City, you just don't put a landfill in the middle (or even close to middle) of the city. Posted by: James at November 24, 2004 01:47 PMI think it is a great idea. Everyone knows that Gatlinburg is always trying to steel the tourist form Chattanooga. Well, I say lets steel some tourist from them. Every winter we will take that 100 foot pile of trash and cover it with fake snow. Then we will offer great ski packages and then what will Gatlinburg do. I will tell you what they will do. They will cry like little babies because Gatlinburg can’t compete. Yea! Chattanooga rocks! i think it's Coolidge Park (sp?) ? we could buy a billboard - Coolidge Park - "just a hop away from all of Chattanooga's trash" Posted by: metalaaron at November 27, 2004 12:19 PMActually, the only people who favor the landfill in Chattanooga are not from here. So let's not blame the city, they are doing everything they can to stop it! Posted by: Robert Varnell at February 15, 2005 01:29 PMPost a comment
