September 29, 2004SpaceShipOne Blasts into SpaceSpaceShipOne (image below) completed the first of two successful flights into space to win the $10 million Ansari X prize. Quote by Fox News Basicly the first person to build a ship and fly it into space (100km or 62 miles above Earth) wins a hefty $10 million award (other criteria apply). They did this because it is important to try to get the public sector involved in space travel. In the past 40 years the cost of going into space has not changed. If we ever want to find an easy way to get into space we have to make people think there is money to be made by doing so. Obviously the $10 million is just a tease to try and get something started. As God said at the Tower of Babel anything we put our minds to we will accomplish. Genesis 11:5-6 If people/companies think there is money to be made by getting into space, we will be there in no time. Space travel will then become more and more efficent and frequent. Space travel is both incredibly cool and really, really freaky all at the same time... Posted by: hugo at September 30, 2004 03:36 PMMore cool than freaky though. :) It is unfortunate we live to see less than 100 years of our technology advance. Assuming I live to be 80, I guess 50 years after I die space travel will be as common as a flight to NY is now. And I will miss it all. We can only imagine what the tourist attraction on the moon will be like. My guess is space tracel will be around a lot sooner than anyone can really guess. So, I guess my guessing is pointless... I guess. Posted by: hugo at October 1, 2004 08:30 AMPost a comment
